Clinical Education & Training Opportunities:
The Movement for Life team acknowledges the importance of clinical excellence. As a practice we are committed to using evidence based practice (EBP) as the cornerstone of our physical therapy care and place emphasis on clinical education. Here are 5 of the ways we ensure our clinicians are exposed and encouraged to pursue their clinical passions.

1. Continuing Education
• 12 courses/year In House - course topics are determined by staff suggestions, feedback from past courses, as well as new programs the practice is introducing.
• We pay course tuition for team members to attend one clinical course per year at their clinic director’s discretion; additional courses can be approved by our Clinical Committee.

2. Monthly Clinical Review Meetings
• These meetings review basic evaluation, treatment, and clinical reasoning in various areas of PT practice and are administered practice wide via webinar.

3. Transitional DPT
• We offer a company sponsored tDPT program to all PT’s desiring to obtain their transitional doctorate.

4. Physical Therapy Student Clinical Education
• Acting as a mentor is a valuable opportunity to demonstrate your ability to articulate and demonstrate physical therapy knowledge. Following one year of clinical experience, Physical Therapists are given the opportunity to mentor a first year student for a 2-6 week affiliation. The practice hosts 20-30 students per year so opportunities to mentor abound.

5. Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency
In January of 2009 we partnered with Evidence in Motion® (www.evidenceinmotion.com) to bring residency training to our team. This program combines the world renowned faculty of Evidence in Motion with our local team of Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialists (OCS). The Evidence in Motion faculty deliver the course work and weekend intensive sessions while our local OCS staff provides the one on one mentoring portion of the program.

Community
We are very involved in the communities where we have clinics. We believe that healthcare should be local and should be a collaborative effort. We see ourselves as an extension of the physicians in our communities and are always looking for ways to better support their services.

Being a part of the community is something we are very passionate about. Annually, Team Movement For Life collaborates with local school districts to fund the cost of providing Athletic Training services in seven local high schools totaling several hundred thousand dollars each year. These programs provide daily on-site medical coverage for student athletes at practices and games including the recent launch of ImPACT, a valuable concussion-testing program. The Athletic Training program allows financially challenged schools to ensure the health and safety of their student-athletes. This is just one way we reach out.

Throughout the year, each of the clinics collects money for local causes and participates in local events such as the MS Walk, the Heart Walk, AHA Walks, Go Red for Women, START!, Miracle Miles for Kids and many more. Led by the Athletic Trainers, they also supported Breast Cancer Awareness by outfitting local high school athletes in pink shirts and gear. In addition, SLST puts on an annual Halloween themed bike event named the Candy Corn Classic whose proceeds go to the Special Olympics and to the MS Society. Our team also finds great pleasure in sponsoring local athletic teams and organizations, and providing community lectures and free backpack screenings for kids in all clinics.

Movement For Life is everything we do. Improving and enhancing the lives of our teams and our communities. We believe we can change more lives together than we can alone. Do you?
